My suggestion is to use Android-like (Cupcake, Donut, ..., Marshmallow, Nougat, Oreo, Pie) version names for major releases, but using something else instead of sweet foods; for example GTA San Andreas things/weapons/places/vehicles/characters.

My example:
open.mp 1.0 "Andromada"
open.mp 2.0 "Burger Shot"
open.mp 3.0 "CJ"
open.mp 4.0 "Desert Eagle"
open.mp 5.0 "East Beach"
open.mp 6.0 "Four Dragons"
open.mp 7.0 "Grove Street"
open.mp 8.0 "Hydra"
open.mp 9.0 "Infernus"
open.mp 10.0 "Jester"
open.mp 11.0 "K-Jah West"
