Anyone else become friends with people you met through a game years ago?
#1
A few nights ago, I was catching up with someone I've known for almost eight years, and it hit me that we've never actually lived in the same city. We originally met on a multiplayer server, started chatting while waiting for events to begin, and over time the conversations shifted from the game to work, family, travel, and everything else going on in life. We don't play together nearly as much anymore, but we still check in every couple of weeks and have helped each other through job changes and some pretty stressful times. It's funny how a friendship that started because of a random game lobby ended up lasting longer than a lot of friendships I made in school. It made me wonder how common that is. Have you stayed in touch with someone you met through gaming long after you both stopped playing the same game? If so, what's the story behind it, and have you ever met in person?
Learning Pawn one script at a time. Currently rebuilding my first open.mp server. FNF
