[Question] I know Kalcor left the building but

But when will sa-mp update it's client? I know open-mp is backwards compitable and such, but this site is not registered by kalcor:

https://www.sa-mp.mp/

There needs to be more updates and such every year or so.

What are you on about? That site’s basically just an archive or a mirror to download the old SA-MP client and server files. They don’t have access to the source code, and they’re not planning to update the client - except maybe for a few security fixes, which you clearly missed. And seriously, stop using SA-MP when open.mp exists. It’s miles better in every way.

I fully agree with you, but I didn't know there is a client for Open multiplayer? An installable client so you can enter the servers etc, on GTA San andreas.
If y-less has archived this then he is a good programmer.

NoxxeR,

SA-MP is pretty much dead, mate. The official client hasn't been developed for a long time. Latest was just 0.3.7-R5 which didn't have much of a changelog, just fixed a remotecode execution exploit.

The site your linked is not many official. Everything shut down by Kalcor in 2023. All that remained: the forums, the master server, it was game over. Some servers are even unable to get listed now because they payment system for listings stopped accepting money.

The only way ahead now is open.mp. It has been designed to work with old SAMP servers in mind. This old project is done - we had a good run, 2005-2023, but all good things have to finish, eventually.

When the SAMP holder was still around, he and a few others were constantly at war with little resources and technical debt. Kalcor dug its heels in on some features and later lost interest. With time, the codebase became less and less maintainable.

It also got smaller so much that bots piling up Servers to give them a better perception and billions of almost similar RP Servers with nothing that makes them unique. its been predicted to be dead sometime around 2020-2021 since 2017.

If you want to continue in the game moving forward, Open.mp is the future. The old king is dead, long live the new king.

Its a very good game.

Hi NoxxeR,

This is exactly what open.mp is doing :)

SA-MP is no longer in development as Kalcor is no longer working on it, so there will never be a new SA-MP client.

SA-MP was Kalcor's project, and he did not hand it over to anyone, so no new work can be done to SA-MP.

This is why open.mp was developed.

open.mp works with SA-MP servers, so it is still the same game, but with active developers who continue to update it.

A LOT of things have already been updated, fixed, and added - open.mp has been able to solve bugs that existed for decades in SA-MP.

Amir works incredibly hard on open.mp, along with everyone else who helps him!

You can find more info about open.mp at http://open.mp or in the Discord server at http://discord.gg/samp

Good information, in the future will open.mp have their own serverlist or installer with browserlist/nickname etc, or you need to download sa-mp latest for it to work? It's always good to improve the client as well, not only the server list.

Thanks Potassium for your reply! =)

Edit:

I found it, it's the "omp-launcher-setup", thanks to iAmir for your work :)
