Season One of Battlefield 2042, dubbed “Zero Hour,” has finally landed. Long-time players have been waiting so long it feels like forever, with the community buzzing non-stop about whether DICE could actually deliver something to turn things around. To be fair, this update does bring some genuinely refreshing additions – from a brand-new map to a new Specialist and an expanded arsenal – it feels like a bit of life has been breathed back into the game. New Map: Exposure
The star of the show this time has to be the new map “Exposure.” Set in the Canadian Rockies, the first impression you get is “big” and “vertical.” Combat here feels truly multi-layered. The upper areas are open ridges and cliffs – perfect for snipers with incredible sightlines. Down below, you have a maze of indoor research facilities and tunnels, tight spaces with endless corners, tailor-made for SMGs and shotguns. The way it is designed means the pace of battle can change in a heartbeat – one moment you are trading fire with vehicles in the open, the next you are diving into tunnels for close-quarters scraps. You do not see this kind of variety in most of BF2042’s earlier maps.

As for the new Specialist, Lis is an absolute menace to vehicles. She is built from the ground up to counter anything flying or rolling across the battlefield. Her signature gadget is the player-controlled TV-guided missile (G-84 TGM). It is basically a mini-game in itself – you steer the missile all the way to its target. For cocky helicopter pilots, Lis is a nightmare; you cannot just hover carefree anymore without worrying about a surprise missile coming from nowhere. Her passive ability, “Armour Hunter,” highlights damaged enemy vehicles, making it much easier to finish them off. Her arrival really shifts the balance between infantry on the ground and vehicles in the air.
